Alabama baseball sorting out weekend pitching rotation spots as season opener nears

Two weeks from today the season will have started.  While keeping up with the Bulldogs, I am also tracking other NCAA baseball stories.

Found this one about Alabama baseball.  The Tide will be playing all their home games at the Hoover Met this season.  Ought to be interesting to see how playing a home game 45 minutes from home works out.

So check out the link below, and be sure to come to the Saturday scrimmage and check out the Bulldogs.  3 PM at Dudy Noble

MSU NOTES: MSU (7-1) resumes its 14-game season-opening homestand and
opens a 19-game March schedule this week hosting Alcorn State (Mar. 1 –
5 p.m.) before welcoming Georgia State and Iowa (Mar. 4-6) to Dudy Noble
Field for a three-day, double round-robin baseball event … State took
two of three games from first-time foe Belmont (1-2, 5-3, 14-5) to cap a
four-game week at Dudy Noble Field. State knocked off Northwestern State
6-4 in a midweek contest … Senior shortstop Jonathan Ogden (.346),
riding a team-best five-game hitting streak, paced State at the plate
last week, collecting six hits and drove in five runs over the past four
games. Ogden and last week’s SEC Freshman of the Week, first
baseman/pitcher Daryl Norris (.368), share the team lead with 11 RBI …
Senior third baseman Jarrod Parks (.429) continues to pace the Bulldogs
with 12 hits and five extra-base hits … Sophomore Chris Stratton (2-0,
0.00) struck out a career-best 13 and pitched 7.2 innings of four-hit,
shutout baseball to earn the win in MSU’s 5-3 win over Belmont. The
2010 SEC All-Freshman team selection did not issue a walk and has not
yielded a run in 13.2 innings. Including his final two appearances of
2010, Stratton’s string of scoreless innings pitched spans 24.0
innings. Freshman right-hander Evan Mitchell (2-0, 1.93) notched his
second win and registered his first quality start in his first
game-opening appearance, a 6.0-inning effort in State’s
series-clinching 14-5 Sunday win over Belmont … In his longest career
outing junior righty Devin Jones (1-1, 1.20) carried a three-hit shutout
into the ninth inning against Belmont before losing both the shutout and
the game on a two-run inside-the-park home run in the ninth inning …
MSU’s eight games have averaged just under two hours, 16 minutes

Sophomore right-hander Chris Stratton retired 24 of the 27 batters he faced, a career-high 13 by strikeout during a sterling 7.2 innings of shutout pitching in a win against Belmont. Stratton scattered four hits (1.54 OBA) without a walk and allowed only two opponent base-runners to reach second base. It was the second double-digit strikeout total in as many outings for the 2010 SEC All-Freshman team selection. The 13-strikeout performance ties for the most strikeouts by an SEC pitcher
this year and the most by a Bulldog hurler since the 2005 SEC Baseball Tournament (Todd Doolittle). Stratton has scattered 10 hits and walked one batter in 13.2 innings of scoreless pitching and, including a run of 10.1 scoreless innings to end his rookie campaign, has not allowed a run in his last 24 career innings pitched.
