As other conferences fought over exit fees, and even increased them, over the past decade, the SEC was the lone holdout. After all, who would ever want to leave the SEC? Imagine my surprise as I was reviewing conference distribution policies to write about the College Football Playoff payouts and stumbled across a new section about withdrawing from the conference complete with a new exit fee.
